Sergio Ramos marked his first goal for Monterrey in their 4-2 victory over Santos Laguna in the Mexican Clausura on Monday.
The former Real Madrid defender found the net with a trademark header in the 57th minute, giving Monterrey a 2-1 lead at Estadio BBVA.
Ramos came close to scoring in his debut against San Luis last week but made up for it with a clinical finish from Sergio Canales’ pinpoint cross.
The Spanish midfielder later got on the scoresheet himself, while German Berterame and Gerardo Arteaga also found the net to secure three points for ‘Los Rayados.’
Santos Laguna managed to respond through Aldo Lopez and Bruno Barticiotto, but their efforts were not enough to prevent another defeat. The loss left them at the bottom of the Clausura table, while Monterrey climbed to ninth place.
Following the match, Ramos expressed his excitement on social media, writing, “Happy for the three points in a hard-fought win and for my first goal with this shirt. Thanks to the fans for their support. Let’s go Monterrey.”
