KARACHI:

The Sukkur High Court Bar Association came before the Supreme Court on Thursday to challenge the Parliamentary Committee’s decision on the appointment of judges.

They wanted to know why Ghulam Sarwar Korai and Irfan Saadat Khan have not been confirmed as Sindh High Court (SHC) judges.

On Thursday, a direct petition was filed at the Karachi Registry by the bar’s president, Abdur Rehman Faruq Pirzada, through Khalid Ali Z Kazi and Dr Farogh Naseem advocates.

The petitioner submitted that both judges have worked with competence and were recommended by the judicial commission but the committee refused to pass it. They argued that the parliamentary committee was overstepping the Supreme Court’s authority.
