Millie Bobby Brown responds to critics who think she looks older than her age

Brown supports positive coverage, addresses age-related comments following her look at 'The Electric State' premiere.

Millie Bobby Brown, known for her role in Stranger Things, recently took to Instagram to address comments regarding her new blonde hairstyle, which some fans say makes her look older than her 21 years.

On February 27, the actress shared her thoughts along with a screenshot of a British Vogue article titled, “No One Cares How Old You Think Millie Bobby Brown Looks,” to which she responded with a simple "thank you."

The conversation around Brown’s appearance ignited following her attendance at the Los Angeles premiere of her latest Netflix film, The Electric State, on February 24. Dressed in a metallic embroidered gown from Annie's Ibiza featuring a corset bodice and a dramatic mermaid train, Brown’s look was a significant departure from her earlier styles.

Her hair, styled in a sleek bun with prominent bangs, complemented her ensemble, contributing to the discourse about her looking beyond her years.

Photographs from the premiere evening, shared by Brown on her Instagram, drew mixed reactions from the public. Comments ranged from concerns like, “Why this makeup and this blonde hair? You're so cute in your natural version! In the actual pic you're a 40-year-old woman,” to more straightforward criticisms stating, “She looks 45 pretending to be 22.”

Accompanied by her husband, Jake Bongiovi, who donned a classic black and white tuxedo, Brown appeared unfazed by the chatter, showing confidence in her new look. This style evolution follows her dramatic hair transformation revealed in early February, where she departed from her brunette locks in favor of a bold platinum blonde, which she showcased at the 2025 SAG Awards.

While fans and fashion critics have largely praised Brown’s transformation and mature style, her look also sparked a lively discussion on X. Reactions ranged from admiration to concern over her mature appearance.

Some users expressed surprise at her sophisticated look at such a young age, with comments like, "She looks so old 🫣," and others critiqued her style team: "man either she has to fire her stylist or she’s aging terribly."
