Sindh floods: Embassy appeals to expatriates

WASHINGTON: The Pakistani embassy in Washington has appealed to the expatriate community in the US to support Islamabad in providing relief to millions of flood-affected people in Sindh.

The message to Pakistani-Americans posted by the embassy said that Sindh has been devastated by severe floods with rains 142 per cent above average for the region.

“The Pakistani community has a strong tradition of helping their Pakistani brothers in their hour of need. This was amply demonstrated during the 2005 earthquake and the floods last year,” stated the message by Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Husain Haqqani.

Moreover, the US special representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan talked to Ambassador Haqqani on the phone and assured him of help in dealing with the calamity.
