LAHORE:

Two police constables were booked in a criminal case after they were allegedly caught facilitating dangerous murder suspects by allowing them to make phone calls from the judicial lockup in the Sessions Court.

According to police sources, Constables Shehzad and Taimoor brought four high-profile murder suspects—Idrees, Zeeshan, Nasir, and Qaiser—for a scheduled court appearance.

Following standard procedure, the accused were placed in the judicial lockup before their hearing. During a routine inspection, Judicial Reader Muhammad Anwar discovered that the two constables were exceeding their authority by permitting the suspects to use mobile phones to communicate with their families. Concerned over a potential security breach, Anwar reported the matter to the authorities, leading to the registration of a case against the two officers at Islam Pura police station.

The FIR accuses Shehzad and Taimoor of aiding the accused in a manner that could have facilitated their escape from custody. However, the implicated officers have not yet been arrested.
