Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old accused of murdering former United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is asking his supporters to limit the number of photos they send him while he remains in custody.
A new message posted on Mangione’s website states that he can receive photos through services like Shutterfly and FreePrints, but due to the overwhelming volume, his legal team requests that fans send no more than five images at a time. The update also reminds supporters that all photos are screened by law enforcement before being delivered.
Mangione’s growing fanbase has been evident in recent weeks, with nearly a hundred supporters gathering outside a Manhattan courthouse during his latest hearing. His legal defense fund also continues to receive donations. In addition to limiting photo submissions, his team has asked people to stop sending him books.
Last week, Mangione issued a statement expressing gratitude for the letters and support he has received, stating that the outreach has “transcended political, racial, and even class divisions.” He acknowledged that while he cannot respond to most letters, he reads every one.
Meanwhile, Mangione’s legal battles continue. His attorney in Pennsylvania, Thomas Dickey, has filed a 23-page motion arguing that his client was unlawfully interrogated and searched before his December 2024 arrest. The filing alleges that Mangione was detained without clear reasoning after being deemed “suspicious” at a McDonald’s in Altoona.
Mangione's next New York court hearing is scheduled for March 19.
