The Sacramento Kings snapped a two-game skid with a commanding 130-88 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night, led by Zach LaVine’s season-high 42 points.
The Kings set the tone early, surging to an 18-point halftime lead as LaVine found his rhythm. The All-Star guard, who has faced scrutiny since arriving in Sacramento via trade, shot an efficient 16-of-19 from the field, including 8-of-9 from beyond the arc.
Sacramento’s dominance continued into the fourth quarter, where they outscored Charlotte 42-16 to secure their 29th win of the season. DeMar DeRozan added 18 points and seven rebounds, while Malik Monk contributed 13 points and 10 assists.
Ellis leaves with ankle injury
Keon Ellis, who has emerged as a key contributor for the Kings this season, suffered a right ankle injury in the second quarter. The 24-year-old guard landed awkwardly after checking into the game and limped to the locker room.
Though he initially returned to the bench, he was later ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
Ellis has started 11 games for Sacramento this season, averaging 10.5 points and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 45.3% from three-point range. His status for upcoming games remains uncertain.
Hornets struggle to keep pace
Charlotte, now 14-42, failed to contain Sacramento’s offensive firepower. Miles Bridges led the Hornets with 23 points, while LaMelo Ball struggled, finishing with 13 points on 3-of-13 shooting. Charlotte shot just 34.9% from the field and 25% from three-point range, unable to recover from an early deficit.
The Kings will look to build on their momentum when they host the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, while the Hornets continue their road trip against the Los Angeles Lakers.
