Govt plans power tariff cut by Rs10/unit

The federal government has devised a plan to reduce the price of electricity by Rs10 per unit. This plan will be shared with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission that is scheduled to visit Pakistan in March.
According to sources, the plan includes reduction in electricity prices by Rs8 to Rs10 per unit to provide relief to the public in their bills, while also aiming to eliminate the circular debt.
Under the implementation of this plan, a reduction of Rs1.3 trillion in debt payments will create financial space, which will then be used to lower electricity prices.
