
More than 10 people were injured when a passenger wagon collided with a dumper truck near the Saeedabad Police Training Centre on Hub River Road Thursday morning.
The dumper crashed into a roadside wall after the collision, while the passenger wagon overturned, trapping the dumper driver inside the vehicle. The driver suffered severe injuries after getting stuck in the steering wheel.
Rescuers rushed the injured to the Civil Hospital, where they were identified as Hakimzadi, 35, and her 16-year-old daughter Shehnaz, Abdullah, 40, Zahir Ahmed, 45, Shiraz Ali, 21, Sajjad Ali, 20, Wahid, 35, Rauf-ur-Rehman, 46, Yasin, 40, Naseer, 35, Sajjad, 24, and Hikmat Zaat, among others.
According to SHO Idrees Bangash, the crash occurred when the dumper driver was driving on the wrong side of the road. The errant driver fled the scene, abandoning his vehicle. Police have launched a manhunt for him.
The passenger wagon was impounded and taken to the police station for investigation.
