Netflix has officially announced its latest Korean romantic comedy series, Boyfriend on Demand (working title), starring Blackpink member Jisoo and acclaimed actor Seo In-guk.

The high-concept drama follows an overworked webtoon producer who finds unexpected romance through a subscription-based virtual reality dating program.

Jisoo will play Seo Mi-rae, a dedicated webtoon producer whose love life takes an unexpected turn when she receives a “Monthly Boyfriend” device, allowing her to experience dating seemingly perfect virtual suitors. Opposite her, Seo In-guk will portray Park Kyeong-nam, a rival webtoon producer with a cold exterior but hidden emotional depth. Their workplace tension is set to bring an intriguing dynamic to the storyline.

The series will be directed by Kim Jung-sik, known for his work on Work Later, Drink Now and No Gain No Love, ensuring a balance between the show’s futuristic concept and heartfelt storytelling.

Netflix continues to expand its investment in Korean content, with Boyfriend on Demand adding to its growing slate of romance dramas. The announcement follows Jisoo’s recent acting success in Disney+ and JTBC’s Snowdrop and her new Prime Video series Newtopia, a zombie survival drama. Additionally, Jisoo signed a global label deal with Warner Records and released her debut solo mini-album, Amortage, on Feb. 14.
