HBO has officially announced that season 2 of its hit series The Last of Us will premiere on April 13. The upcoming season adapts the events of The Last of Us: Part II, the sequel to the critically acclaimed PlayStation video game.

Set five years after the events of season 1, the new season follows Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) as they navigate a world ravaged by infection, encountering new threats and allies along the way. The season will introduce several new characters from the game, including Abby, portrayed by Kaitlyn Dever, and Dina, played by Isabela Merced. Other cast additions include Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez as Manny. Catherine O’Hara will guest star in an undisclosed role, while Jeffrey Wright reprises his role as Isaac, the leader of the Washington Liberation Front.

Series creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann continue as writers and executive producers. Both have directed episodes in the past and will return to direct in season 2. Mazin teased that the seven-episode season will deliver high-intensity storytelling, packed with action and drama.

“Each episode is like a meal,” Mazin told Entertainment Weekly. “They are high-calorie, dense episodes. If you consider action and drama to be key to an epic story, each episode delivers a powerful impact.”

With heightened anticipation, HBO’s The Last of Us season 2 is set to captivate audiences once again with its gripping narrative and star-studded cast.
