The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) increased the pay and perks of its officials threefold without the approval of the federal cabinet, sources said on Monday.
They said that Nepra officials approved allowances for themselves on the pattern of judicial allowances for judges. These include a monthly regulatory allowance of Rs631,000 to Rs700,000; ad hoc relief at the rate of Rs587,000 to Rs650,000 for 2024 and Rs544,000 to Rs600,000 for 2023.
A monthly ad hoc relief of Rs116,000 for 2022 and Rs77,000 for 2021 would also be given as house rent allowance, the sources said. Other incentives included Rs96,000 and utility allowance of Rs32,000 to Rs35,000.
