Ryan Reynolds stole the spotlight at the SNL50 anniversary special with a subtle yet cheeky reference to the ongoing Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni controversy during a Q&A session hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
The segment featured celebrity cameos, including Quinta Brunson, Jon Hamm, and Peyton Manning, as Fey and Poehler took audience questions about the long-running NBC show. When the hosts called on Reynolds, he responded cautiously, “Great. Why, what have you heard?”—a tongue-in-cheek nod to the highly publicized drama involving his wife, Blake Lively, and her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.
The legal dispute between Lively and Baldoni has made headlines, starting with reports of on-set tensions during the production of It Ends With Us. Initial claims suggested Lively went over Baldoni’s head to influence the film’s production. However, in late 2024, Lively filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni, alleging a hostile work environment. Baldoni has denied the allegations and even accused Reynolds of mocking him through the "Nicepool" character in Deadpool & Wolverine.
The SNL50 special marked the first public appearance of Reynolds and Lively since the lawsuit. Despite the ongoing legal battle, Reynolds’ humor proved that he can still find levity in even the most serious situations.
