A lawsuit accusing hip-hop moguls Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs of sexual assault has been dismissed.

The attorney representing Jane Doe filed the dismissal in New York on Friday.

The case, which alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl in 2000, was voluntarily withdrawn "with prejudice" by attorneys Tony Buzbee and Antigone Curis, meaning it cannot be refiled.

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, issued a statement through Roc Nation, calling the dismissal a "victory." He condemned the lawsuit as "frivolous, fictitious, and appalling" and said it had caused trauma to his wife and children. His attorney, Alex Spiro, also released a statement asserting that Jay-Z had "stood up against false allegations and never settled."

The lawsuit was originally filed against Combs in October before Jay-Z’s name was added in December. The plaintiff claimed that both artists assaulted her after an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000. However, inconsistencies in her account, including an admission that "not all the facts are clear" and potential misidentification, cast doubt on the allegations.

While Jay-Z is cleared, Combs remains entangled in multiple legal battles. He is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. Denied bail three times, Combs is set to face trial on May 5, 2025, where he could face life in prison.

This development marks a major legal victory for Jay-Z while Combs continues to fight serious accusations.
