TMZ’s new documentary, Saving Wendy, reveals new details about Wendy Williams’ guardianship, medical condition, and efforts to regain control of her life.
Williams claims she has not seen a doctor in nearly two years despite a 2023 dementia diagnosis. She insists she is “not incapacitated” and questions the court’s decision to keep her under guardianship.
One of the documentary’s key revelations is that Williams lives in a memory care unit, sharing space with elderly residents experiencing severe cognitive decline. She says she has been allowed outside only twice in the past month and has no access to a personal phone or iPad. Even within the facility, she is unable to leave her room without a chaperone.
Financial matters are also examined in Saving Wendy. The documentary states that her possessions are locked in a storage unit, and her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has legal approval to make money from managing her estate. A court order prohibits those involved in the case from discussing it publicly, limiting transparency.
The documentary also suggests that Williams’ conservatorship began after her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., withdrew large amounts of money from her account without her knowledge. Reports claim that Wells Fargo flagged the transactions, leading to her assets being frozen and the guardianship being established.
Despite the restrictions, Williams is pursuing legal action to regain control. She has hired a lawyer to challenge the guardianship and is scheduled for a new medical evaluation that could impact her case.
TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy is now available for streaming on Tubi.
