Pakistan’s Babar Azam continues to dominate the latest ICC ODI batting rankings, maintaining his position at the top with 786 rating points.
The updated standings, released on February 12, 2025, see India’s Shubman Gill (781) and Rohit Sharma (773) closely trailing the Pakistan captain.
Ireland’s Harry Tector has climbed to fourth place with 737 points, surpassing South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen (736), who now sits in fifth.
Virat Kohli, once the top-ranked ODI batsman, is currently in sixth position with 728 points.
New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell follows in seventh with 721 points, while West Indies’ Shai Hope and Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz are tied in eighth place with 672 points each.
India’s Shreyas Iyer rounds out the top ten with 669 points.
Babar’s hold on the No. 1 ranking remains firm, though his rating has dipped from his career-best 898, achieved against West Indies in 2022.
Gill and Rohit continue to push for the top spot, with both maintaining strong recent performances.
The rankings reflect recent ODI performances, with Tector’s rise marking a significant achievement for Irish cricket.
Kohli’s slip to sixth comes despite his past dominance in the format, where he once reached a career-high 909 rating points in 2018.
With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 set to begin next week, the battle for the top batting spot is expected to intensify as players aim to make their mark in one of cricket’s biggest tournaments.
