Left-arm pacer Akif Javed has been included in Pakistan's squad for the ongoing tri-nation ODI series against South Africa and New Zealand, replacing Haris Rauf.
Akif, with 23 first-class, 30 List-A, and 68 T20 appearances to his name, has taken 169 wickets across formats in his career, including one five-wicket haul.
His inclusion follows Haris Rauf's muscular sprain in the lower chest sustained during Saturday's match against New Zealand.
As a precautionary measure, Rauf will be rested for the upcoming matches but is expected to fully recover in time for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, which will be hosted by Pakistan from February 19 to March 9.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed Rauf's injury through MRI and X-ray scans, stating that it is not serious.
The fast bowler received initial medical assistance, and reports indicate that he has sustained a muscle strain in the lower chest area.
However, his return to the field will be determined after consultation with doctors.
Pakistan will face South Africa in their final league match of the tri-nation ODI series on Wednesday, aiming to secure a spot in the final alongside New Zealand.
