The opening ceremony of the newly renovated National Stadium in Karachi saw a strong turnout, but former Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam expressed his disappointment over the city’s lack of attendance at matches.
During the event, Azam addressed the crowd and shared his frustration. “I have a complaint with the people of Karachi that they do not come to watch the matches. Just as they turned up for this opening ceremony, they should come for the matches as well,” he said.
Shaheen Shah Afridi took the opportunity to thank the people of Karachi for their support. “Thank you, Karachi, we need your support in the Champions Trophy,” Afridi said.
The newly upgraded National Bank Stadium in Karachi was officially inaugurated today, following extensive renovations in preparation for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, which will take place from February 19 to March 9.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and MQM-P Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
