When Bollywood superstar Salman Khan speaks, the world listens - or at least tunes in curiously, as he rarely minces his words. Making his podcast debut on his nephew Arhaan Khan's YouTube channel, Dumb Biryani, Salman brought his signature candour to the table, tackling everything from motivation to sleep schedules with a bracing honesty that only 'Bhai' can deliver.
Arhaan, who co-hosts the channel with friends Dev Raiyani and Arush Verma, provided a comfortable space for Salman to open up. In classic Salman style, he dismissed the culture of external motivation. "I don't believe in this motivation bull** talk. Brush your teeth, and get out. Nobody likes to go to the gym or learn something. It is painful and it's about willingly making a fool out of yourself. But you need to put yourself at that end, and get as good as possible," he declared, emphasising that discipline trumps all.
For Salman, the idea of learning is not tied to traditional methods. "If you actually want to learn, you can even learn from the tree or the wall. Of course, you need to listen to your guru, but that can even be Google or YouTube. All you need is to be disciplined," he mused. It's this self-reliant attitude that has likely fuelled his decades-long career in an industry known for its fickleness.
Reflecting on his own approach to life's challenges, Salman shared, "When we used to play a sport, and get tired, and start panting, we still had a wide smile on our faces. We wanted to get back and do the same thing all over again. Nowadays, we lose that enthusiasm and get complacent. Never let go of that enthusiasm." The Ek Tha Tiger star warned against letting complacency become a habit, cautioning, "If you let go of this enthusiasm, you are allowing yourself to become a much older version of yourself. That should never happen."
