KARACHI:

'Resources, extremism and resistance' is the theme of the second Sindh Nari Day that is to be celebrated at the Karachi Press Club on February 22.

The organisers of the event told The Express Tribune that all the burning issues portraying Sindh's prevailing situation will be highlighted. "It's not the day for women only but we will highlight everything that is important," explained one of the organisers of the event, Shazia Nizamani.

The Nari in Sindhi language means 'woman' and the day is usually celebrated in March on the occasion of the World Women March but due to the holy month of Ramadan, the day is being celebrated in February this year.

The day will have different sessions, including the murdered women in the name of honour, resources in Sindh, societal resistance against extremism and others.

Mai Jindu Awards will be given to brave women of Sindh while various burning issues will be highlighted through different performances.

"Although our aim is to portray genuine issues of women but we will also highlight all the major issues of the people of Sindh, Nizamani said.
