Govt mulls removing tax exemption for 5-marla houses

The Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department has convened a meeting to discuss tax shortfall.

According to the sources, the meeting will also discuss the proposed removal of the tax exemption for five-marla houses in Rawalpindi.

"The director general of the Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department has convened a high-level meeting to address the persistent shortfall in property tax, professional tax, and luxury tax collections," official sources said.

The huddle is scheduled to take place on Monday (today), with the director general presiding over the session.

All directors have been instructed to present detailed reports on tax collections, the registration of new vehicles, and the reasons behind the ongoing shortfall in tax revenues.
