Leicester City came from behind to secure a crucial 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, ending their seven-game Premier League losing streak and easing pressure on manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Jamie Vardy and Bilal El Khannouss scored second-half goals to overturn Richarlison’s opener for Spurs, leaving Ange Postecoglou’s side with only one win in their last 11 matches.

Tottenham’s defensive errors and midfield struggles proved costly, with Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr unable to contain Leicester’s pace.

Injuries to key players, including James Maddison and Djed Spence, compounded Spurs’ issues, while late misses from Pedro Porro highlighted their inability to salvage a point.

Fan frustration at Levy boils over

The defeat was marked by growing unrest among Spurs supporters, who directed their anger at chairman Daniel Levy.

A banner in Tottenham’s South Stand read: "24 years, 16 managers, one trophy - time for change."

Chants criticising Levy’s leadership echoed throughout the match, reflecting fans' frustration with his perceived failure to reinvest in the squad despite Tottenham’s financial growth.

Chants of 'we want Levy out' and 'Daniel Levy get out of our club' were ringing throughout the Tottenham Hospur stadium after their defeat to Leicester. It was followed by a chorus of heavy boos by the home support at the fulltime whistle.

Spurs have built a state-of-the-art stadium and training ground under Levy’s tenure, but critics argue that these achievements have not translated into success on the pitch. Although Postecoglou has been given £214m to spend, £100m came from the sale of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.

Reports that Tottenham cannot compete with Arsenal on wages for January signings have intensified scrutiny of Levy’s approach.

Postecoglou acknowledged the mounting discontent, admitting he had struggled to unify the club. "Certainly, something I wanted to try and do when I took on this role was to try to unify the club and create an environment here where we are all focused on the one thing. Obviously, it hasn’t worked out that way," he said post-match.

Leicester revived, Spurs in Decline

Leicester’s victory lifted them out of the relegation zone, providing a much-needed boost for van Nistelrooy’s side. Meanwhile, Tottenham remain mired in poor form, with their European competition spot offering little solace to fans demanding significant change.

As the January transfer window progresses, pressure mounts on Levy to address Spurs’ ongoing struggles, with Postecoglou’s squad stretched thin amid a 10-player injury crisis.

Tottenham now sit 15th in the Premier League table after 23 games, with 13 defeats in the league this season.
