Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Sunday that the US lawmakers were being incited against Pakistan, stressing that his current visit aimed at formulating a joint strategy in the fight terrorism, said a message received here.
Talking to the media in the US city of Houston on Sunday, Naqvi made it clear that he did not attend any anti-China function during his current US visit. He rejected the impression being created about his participation in a youth event as "venomous propaganda".
The minister said that he had attended a youth event which had been given a wrong colour through propaganda.
"I did not go to any anti-China function," Naqvi told the media. "The opponents are spreading venomous propaganda, but such propaganda does not matter," he added.
Naqvi said that he was visiting the US to formulate an effective strategy against terrorism with the cooperation of the American politicians. "Terrorism is not just Pakistan's fight, rather it is the fight for everyone. Whoever takes up arms against Pakistan would be dealt with sternly."
The minister termed his meetings with US Congressmen positive, adding that the members of the US House of Representatives and the Senate were being incited against Pakistan. He asked the detractors not to go too far and desist from politics that could harm the country.
"A lot of dirt was being spread about Pakistan and the Pakistani government here, clearing that was necessary," Naqvi said, speaking about his interactions in the US. "Congressmen and senators here are being poisoned against Pakistan," he said.
