Cricket is rapidly gaining popularity in the United States, mainly due to the large number of South Asian immigrants.
Last year, the ICC organized the Cricket World Cup in the US, with the Pakistan-India match in New York attracting a packed stadium.
According to sources, PSL Chief Salman Naseer is currently touring various cities across the US. Meanwhile, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who visited the US as Pakistan's Interior Minister to attend the oath taking ceremony of President Donald Trump, also engaged in discussions about cricket-related opportunities.
The American cricket landscape is dominated by Indian team owners and cricket associations, which poses a challenge for Pakistan to establish its presence. However, the PCB is determined not to leave this lucrative market solely to India and is actively exploring ways to make its mark.
As part of its strategy, two new teams will be introduced in PSL season 11. Sources reveal that two Pakistani individuals active in American cricket are interested in purchasing teams, and discussions with them are underway. It is expected that one of them will secure a team. Additionally, a major stakeholder in Pakistan cricket has expressed interest in investing in a franchise, which could lead to an exciting bidding process.
The PCB is also exploring the possibility of hosting some PSL matches in the United States in the future. This initiative is still in its early stages, and overnight success is unlikely. However, the PCB has officially begun its efforts to gain a foothold in the American cricket market.
