Cop kidnapped, shot dead in Tank

A police constable was kidnapped and his house set on fire by unidentified terrorists in the Tank district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Friday.

Police told The Express Tribune that the body of the cop was later found dumped in a field. According to details, unidentified terrorists had attacked the residence of Constable Akhtar Zaman, a resident of Grahi Shada, on Thursday night.

They had set the house ablaze, reducing it to ashes before taking the policeman away with them. Following the incident, District Police Officer Tank Aslam Nawaz Khan issued emergency instructions to all concerned police officers, including the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and the Station House Officer (SHO) who then launched a massive search operation in the area, conducting raids in various parts of the region to locate the terrorists.

Security has been tightened in sensitive areas. The DPO Tank has stated that the operation would continue to maintain law and order in the area and that strict action would be taken against those responsible.

Police have increased surveillance on all streets and routes in the area and urged local residents to report suspicious activities immediately. Additional personnel have been deployed to identify and arrest the suspects.
