Manchester City have secured the signing of Egypt forward Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt for €70m (£59m), with potential add-ons increasing the fee by £4m.

Marmoush has been in prolific form this season, scoring 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances — second only to England captain Harry Kane, who has netted 16 goals for Bayern Munich.

Speaking about the move, Marmoush expressed his excitement at joining City. "Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world over the past 10 years, so it was not a question," he said. "It’s a pleasure and an honour for me and my family to be representing Manchester City. It makes them happy; it makes me happy that my dreams are becoming a reality."

The Egyptian international also highlighted his strengths on the pitch. "I am fast, good on the ball, I try to see where the spaces are and exploit them — and I’m dangerous. My main strength is that I always want to win — that is from a character point of view," he said.

Marmoush will wear the #7 kit, worn previously by City icons such as Raheem Sterling and Joao Cancelo.

January transfer activity

Marmoush’s signing is one of three key January acquisitions for Manchester City. The club also brought in 19-year-old Brazilian defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £30m and Uzbekistan defender Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for £34m.

City’s activity in the transfer market underlines their continued focus on strengthening both their attack and defence as they aim to maintain dominance in domestic and European competitions.

Marmoush’s arrival provides Pep Guardiola with a versatile attacking option, capable of playing as a striker, winger, or number 10. As Manchester City continue their push for silverware this season, Marmoush’s form and adaptability could prove vital in their quest for success.
