RAWALPINDI:

Acting on instructions from the interior ministry, a crackdown against Afghan nationals was launched in Rawalpindi and its surrounding areas, leading to the arrest of 255 Afghan citizens.

According to sources, the arrested individuals were subsequently deported to Afghanistan via Torkham.

Meanwhile, 180 Afghan individuals and families, who possessed valid documentation for their stay in Pakistan, were released, they said.

In addition, the stay of 63 Afghan nationals was extended by one to three months in Pakistan. District Officer for Civil Defence Talib Hussain confirmed the operation and stated that the crackdown on Afghan nationals in Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been intensified.

"Zero tolerance is being enforced for those entering Pakistan without a visa, and anyone without proper documentation or whose visa has expired is being arrested and deported within 24 hours," he said.

The police and other law enforcement agencies are conducting joint operations.
