The Christian Study Center Rawalpindi inaugurated on Tuesday a project to rid the marginalised segment of the minority community in Punjab and Sindh out of poverty through technical and vocational training.
Representatives of Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Bahai, Kailash and Parsi communities participated in the ceremony, which was attended by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that failing to protect the rights of minorities would be a negation of the ideology of Pakistan. "We have to remove the virus of bigotry and hatred from our consciousness."
All the minority representatives, who participated in the inauguration ceremony of the project, expressed their commitment to providing development opportunities to the minorities through technical and vocational training projects for the backward sections in Sindh and Punjab.
Director Christian Study Center Samuel Azraiah, Granthi Gulbar Singh from Sikh Community, Sher Macha from Kailash Council, Father of Christian Community from Roman Catholic Church, Sarfaraz Simon, Mohanlal Kashf from Hindu Community, Former Minister Miss Roshan Khursheed Brocha from Parsi Community, Miss Shagofa Jamal from Bahai community, Director General NACTA Saleha Shah, Syed Arslan, Kashif Irshad Advisor Culture Division and CEO Poverty Eradication Fund Nadir Gul Barich expressed their views during the event.
According to speakers, technical and vocational training projects aimed to equip the underprivileged communities of Punjab and Sindh with modern technical and vocational skills so that they could move towards self-reliance and improve their economic status.
Speakers said that this project will not only lead the people of the marginalized communities towards self-determination but will also play a key role in promoting harmony and brotherhood among different religions and cultures in the society.
They said that through this project, the youth would be trained in modern skills in various fields, including digital skills, handicrafts, and technical education.
Speakers further said that this project was a new ray of hope for those people, who are deprived of development opportunities due to lack of resources. Efforts that bring all religions and communities closer to each other and create a better society are essential.
The project aims to impart technical training to the youth of various communities to develop vocational skills such as handicrafts, IT, and other advanced fields. Empowering women in particular so that they can bring financial stability to their families.
