LAHORE:

Chairman WAPDA Engr Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd) visited the Mangla Dam Organisation and its components, including the main dam, Jari Dam site, and powerhouse, according to a press statement issued on Wednesday.

During the visit, Ghani was briefed on the Mangla Dam, Mangla Raised Project, and the refurbishment of its powerhouse.

The statement highlighted the Mangla Refurbishment Project, costing Rs52.224 billion, which aims to upgrade eight generating units. Refurbishment of the first two units was completed in 2022, while the remaining six are expected to be upgraded by 2027-28. Upon completion, the project will increase the power station's capacity from 1,000 MW to 1,310 MW, boosting annual generation from 5 billion to 6.6 billion units.
