The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office has issued evacuation orders for surrounding areas, with a temporary evacuation point set up at the Castroville Recreation Center.

As of 6:30 p.m., southbound Highway 1 at Salinas Road has been closed due to the fire, with no estimated time for reopening. Full road closures are in effect at Dolan Rd., Castroville Blvd., Highway 1 at Salinas Road, and Highway 1 at Merritt St.
