The third day of the Islamabad Open Tennis Championship saw the country’s top players advancing into the quarter-finals of the event. Pakistan number one Aqeel Khan blanked out Rizwan Ghuri 6-0, 6-0, while Haseeb Yaqoob got the better of Asad Shakoor 6-1, 6-1. Yasir Khan defeated Hassan Tariq 6-1, 6-2, with Jalil Khan being equally dominant in a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Jibranul Haq. Heera Ashiq beat Gulfraz 6-0, 6-1. In the boys’ under-18 singles Ahmed Chaudhry, Haseeb Yaqub, Talal Almas and Salman Bin Saleem moved into the semi-finals by eliminating their respective opponents in straight sets.
