Ronaldo will earn a reported figure in excess of €200 million per year.

Cristiano Ronaldo is close to agreeing a one-year contract extension with Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.

This will keep him at the club until June 2026. The Portuguese superstar, who currently earns a reported €3.8 million per week, has had a significant impact since joining the club in January 2023.

Despite his advancing age, Ronaldo believes he can continue playing at a high level, with his focus on both his club commitments and his aspirations for the 2026 World Cup. He has scored 81 goals in 90 games since joining the club in January 2023, with 60 goals in 60 Saudi Pro League games.

Ronaldo, who will turn 40 in February, has played a key role in Al Nassr’s performances, helping the team secure a third-place standing in the league, though they remain nine points behind leaders Al Ittihad. The club’s management, recognizing the value he brings, is eager to extend his stay in Riyadh.

In addition to his on-field contributions, Ronaldo’s tax-free salary in Saudi Arabia has also been a considerable draw, offering him a lucrative financial package.

The veteran forward’s ambition goes beyond his time with Al Nassr. Ronaldo remains focused on the possibility of competing in the next World Cup, which will be held in 2026, despite his age. Having faced challenges during his final months at Manchester United, where he left under controversial circumstances in December 2022, Ronaldo’s move to Saudi Arabia has revitalized his career, and he has expressed a renewed passion for football in the region.

Although Al Nassr has yet to win the domestic title during Ronaldo’s tenure, the club’s ambitions are clear, with the management keen to build on his presence. However, some speculate whether Ronaldo might seek a move to Al Hilal, the most successful team in Saudi Arabia, given their dominant position in the league.

Ronaldo’s aspirations do not end with his football career. Last month, he spoke about his long-term ambitions, including the possibility of purchasing a football club. His growing wealth, fueled by his high salary and sponsorships, might soon enable him to take ownership of a club.

As Al Nassr’s management works to secure Ronaldo’s future, the global football community watches closely to see how the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s next chapter unfolds.
