Kendrick Lamar fans are buzzing with excitement following a new rumor suggesting that the Compton rapper may feature on the upcoming ‘Clipse’ album, alongside Pusha T and No Malice.
The speculation began on January 12, when a TikTok user posted a video previewing a track that Pusha T had played during Pharrell Williams’ Louis Vuitton debut show in 2023. The snippet was quickly removed by TikTok due to a copyright violation from Universal Music Group, but the user claimed that the track was titled 'Chains & Whips' and featured Kendrick Lamar.
This discovery has fans eagerly anticipating the ‘Clipse’ project, especially since Pusha T and No Malice are preparing to release their first album in 15 years. Produced entirely by Pharrell Williams, the album marks their long-awaited return to the music scene. In August 2024, Pusha T revealed that the album was finished, with only one special guest feature left to finalize. At that time, speculation swirled that the feature could be either Kendrick Lamar or JAY-Z. The recent TikTok revelation has only fueled the rumor that Lamar will make an appearance.
The excitement around the album intensified last week when a popular Hip-Hop blog shared an image showing clips from the Louis Vuitton show alongside a dot. Many fans now believe that Lamar is indeed featured on the project. This has added more intrigue to an album that has been generating buzz for months, particularly due to the ongoing feuds between both Lamar and Pusha T with rapper Drake.
In a recent interview, Pusha T confirmed that the album was complete and that they were simply finalizing the logistics. “It’s ready. So, as soon as it’s ready, y’all getting it. That’s it,” he said. No Malice added, “It’s time. The album is ready. The album is right. I feel it’s something that Hip-Hop has been missing. And we got it, so we’re ready.”
Pusha T also took the opportunity to weigh in on Kendrick Lamar’s influence in the genre. “Kendrick is a lyricist who talks to your soul,” he explained. “The truth really hurts, and that’s what Kendrick brings to the table. He’s got the ability to cut deep with his words.” Pusha further asserted that Lamar’s impact in his feud with Drake caused the Toronto rapper’s emotional reaction, including legal action.
Although no official release date has been confirmed for the ‘Clipse’ album, fans are hopeful that it will drop soon. Pusha T recently cleared his Instagram grid, sparking rumors that the project could be imminent. With or without Lamar’s feature, the upcoming album is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases in Hip-Hop this year.
