The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) foiled an attempt by a Ugandan woman to smuggle drugs at Karachi Airport and arrested her.
According to the ANF spokesperson, the female passenger arrived in Karachi from Entebbe, Uganda, via Dubai and was taken into custody at Jinnah International Airport.
During interrogation, the arrested woman admitted to having drug-filled capsules inside her body. She was transferred to a hospital where 11 cocaine-filled capsules weighing 144 grams were recovered, Express News reported.
Further investigations revealed that the woman had a Nigerian accomplice in Lahore who was supposed to receive the drugs.
ANF took swift action to ensure the connection between the woman and the Nigerian receiver in Lahore remained intact. The Nigerian man had instructed the woman to travel from Karachi to Lahore by air to deliver the drugs.
ANF deployed an intelligence team in Lahore to apprehend the Nigerian individual. Based on effective planning and actionable intelligence, the suspect was arrested from a hotel in Lahore's Firdous Market.
According to the spokesperson, ANF remains active in combating international drug-smuggling organisations that exploit foreign nationals to smuggle narcotics.
A case has been registered under the Narcotics Control Act, and investigations are ongoing to arrest more members of the drug network. ANF remains determined in its mission to create a drug-free Pakistan.
A few weeks ago at Peshawar Airport, the ANF seized over 10 kilograms of drugs from a Pakistani-origin British citizen. According to the ANF, during a routine operation at Peshawar Airport, 10.6 kilograms of hashish were found hidden in the suspect's trolley bag.
The drugs were carefully concealed in boxes. The suspect was reportedly travelling from Peshawar to London via Doha.
In a simillar case a French national arriving in Pakistan from India was caught with a large quantity of drugs. The suspect had travelled from India to Islamabad and was en route to Sri Lanka via Muscat.
Upon inspection, 1.58 kilograms of hashish were discovered in the suspect's luggage.
