President urges investment in education

Zardari calls for adopting modern modes of teaching

President Asif Zardari on Monday called for investing in the children's education and adopting modern modes of imparting education in order to produce productive citizens to meet the country's human resource requirements, and enable the youth to cope with the challenges of the 21st century.

Chairing a meeting of the board of governors of the Cadet College Petaro (CCP) at the Chief Minister House, the president instructed for devising a five-year plan to further develop the CCP as per international standards with modern facilities, equipment and technology.

"The Cadet College Petaro is my alma mater and holds a very special place in my heart," Zardari said in his opening remarks. He added that he took immense pride in having studied there and remained committed to giving back to this prestigious institution.

The president appreciated the CCP for its significant role in a holistic training of the youth in Pakistan, particularly in Sindh. "It has produced remarkable leaders in politics, the armed forces, civil bureaucracy, judiciary, and other fields," he said.

During the meeting, the president was briefed on the CCP's infrastructure and the facilities being provided to the students there. He directed Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to establish two more swimming pools and ensure that all necessary facilities were provided there under a five-year plan.

The president approved an upgrade to the CCP infrastructure. The key projects included the upgrading of ICT labs and the installation of smart digital screens in junior classes, as well as the reconstruction of Iqbal and Qasim Houses and renovation of other cadet houses.

Additionally, the president ordered enhancements to critical facilities, such as the installation of a chiller system for the cadets' mess and a new water pipeline from the Indus river. The Riding Club would also be expanded to accommodate the increasing interest in equestrian activities by adding more horses.

Zardari approved the establishment of a housing scheme and health insurance for the CCP employees.
