Novak Djokovic recently shared insights into his relationship with tennis legends Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, describing it as "up and down." In an interview with GQ's February Issue, Djokovic reflected on the complex dynamics between the three, acknowledging that while they have experienced both camaraderie and rivalry throughout their careers, their relationship has been far from straightforward.

The trio, often referred to as the "Big Three" of tennis, have dominated the sport for nearly two decades, each winning numerous Grand Slam titles and shaping the modern era of men’s tennis. Despite their mutual respect for one another, Djokovic explained that their interactions have varied over time, with moments of both friendship and tension.

“Well, I don’t see them. I don’t see them much. But the rivalry that we had between the three of us, the rivalries are eternal, I think. It’s just something that leaves an incredible mark and legacy on this sport. Something that will last forever. Something that I’m very proud of, very happy to be part of that group,” reflected Djokovic, 37.

While all three players have battled fiercely on the court, they have also often spoken highly of one another in public, with Djokovic acknowledging that their relationships are multifaceted.

“And privately it’s kind of going up and down, to be honest. I try to be always respectful and friendly to them off the court. But I didn’t have the acceptance early on, ’cause I did go out on the court saying and showing that I’m confident that I want to win. And I don’t think that both of them maybe liked that in the early days,” he says.

Djokovic expressed hope that, despite the current distance, he and the other two will grow closer in the future.
