As Los Angeles faces devastating wildfires, musician Grimes shared her harrowing experience of evacuation, highlighting the chaos and uncertainty gripping the city.

Taking to Twitter on January 8, she wrote, “Just had to evacuate, tried to go to a friend’s place—it got an evacuation warning on the way there. Now aimlessly driving out of the city. Is the whole city gna be gone? This is a serious tragedy for LA—I feel profoundly sad for everybody.”

Her tweet resonated with thousands, reflecting the shared anxiety of those fleeing the relentless fires that have consumed homes and displaced countless residents. However, the conversation shifted when a follower accused her ex-partner Elon Musk of being "one of the most evil climate deniers of all time."

Grimes addressed the claim directly, responding, “He’s pretty vocal about climate change and is primarily known for, in part, revolutionizing electric vehicles. I think there’s plenty to be angry about, but when you stray from fact and reason, your critique loses power.”

She urged for thoughtful and fact-based discussions about climate change, warning against the pitfalls of "dopamine rage bait" on social media. Her stance highlighted the importance of rational discourse during a time of crisis, especially as wildfires underscore the urgent need for climate action.

Los Angeles remains in a state of emergency as thousands evacuate, with the wildfires fueled by high winds and dry conditions. Grimes’ experience serves as a reminder of the human toll of environmental disasters, while her defense of Musk highlights the complexities of addressing climate issues.
