The petition was filed on the basis of the Supreme Court's verdict that disqualified Dasti for holding a fake educational degree. It was filed by Dasti's opposing candidate from constituency NA-178, Nawabzada Akhtar.
The petitioner requested that Dasti's notification of victory in the by-polls be rejected, while the SC's verdict disqualifying him was also cited.
The Election Commission will send the application to the election tribunal.
