Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar approached the top leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and assured the major coalition partner of the government of redressing its reservation, just days after the PPP warned the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of taking it head-on over broken promises.

According to Express News, Dar dashed to the Aiwan-e-Sadr and met President Asif Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari late on Tuesday. Quoting it sources, Express News reported that Dar assured the PPP of removing its reservations and the PPP promised to continue supporting the government.

Tensions between the PPP and the ruling PML-N deepened on Monday as PPP leadership finally allowed its members to start challenging the federal and Punjab government's policies openly. Party insiders said the PPP leadership's recent directive sent a clear signal that the PPP would no longer remain silent.

On Sunday, PPP Spokesperson Shazia Marri had issued a stern warning to the PML-N, cautioning that continued sidelining of the key ally of the ruling coalition on critical national issues could lead to the collapse of the PML-N-led federal government.

Following the PPP warnings, according to Express News, Deputy Prime Minister Dar along with Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar met with the PPP leadership and discussed PPP's demands. According to PPP sources, the power-sharing formula in Punjab was the focus of the discussion.

Dar assured the PPP leadership of removing their reservations. On the assurance from the deputy prime minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari indicated his party's continued cooperation with the government and full support, Express News report added.
