Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has broken a 27-year-old record with an outstanding performance in the Cape Town Test against South Africa.
During the follow-on innings, Masood scored a remarkable 145 runs, setting the highest individual score by a Pakistani batter on South African soil in Test cricket.
Previously, the record was held by former Pakistani all-rounder Azhar Mahmood, who scored 136 runs in Johannesburg in 1998.
In addition to this achievement, Masood became the first Pakistani captain to score a Test century in South Africa.
His remarkable feat added another milestone to his career, despite Pakistan’s heavy 10-wicket defeat in the Cape Town Test. This loss resulted in a 2-0 series sweep by South Africa.
Masood’s historic knock of 145, however, will stand as a significant achievement in Pakistan’s cricketing history.
