Naomi Osaka, the Japanese tennis star and four-time Grand Slam champion, revealed her split from American rapper Cordae just days before the start of the 2025 Australian Open. The couple, who share a one-year-old daughter, Shai, had been together since 2019.
In a heartfelt Instagram Story shared on Monday, Osaka, 27, wrote:
“Hi everyone, just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship. No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad. Honestly, really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together.”
She concluded the post with a red heart emoji but did not disclose the timing of their breakup.
Rumors about their split began circulating in late 2023 after Osaka removed photos of Cordae from her social media accounts. Cordae, also 27, has not commented publicly on the news.
The pair, known for keeping their relationship private, made their first public appearance at a Los Angeles Clippers game in 2019.
Osaka recently reached the WTA Auckland Open final but had to withdraw due to an abdominal injury. She is now focused on recovery and the upcoming Australian Open, which began on Sunday.
