An unidentified victim, killed by unidentified persons for an unidentified motive, lies in Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre waiting for heirs to receive her body, offer her janaza prayer and burry her.
A woman shot dead on the night of December 31 near Saifi Chowk in Shah Latif Town remains unidentified, if more time lapses, she will be buried per Muslim rites in the graveyard of the unknown persons marked with a number in place of the tombstone.
Police quoting initial investigations said four unidentified suspects had opened fire on the deceased on a street near Saifi Chowk and fled.
It was not an incident of street crime, because police recovered Rs16,000 from the body. However, no identification card, or mobile phone was found from her. Moreover, there was no CCTV camera around the place where the murder took place.
According to the police, fingerprints of the victim were sent to National Data Base Registration Authority (NADRA), but the authority said they had no record of the victim.
At times, the fingerprints erode due to age, injury or working habits, which distort the scanning from devices. Police say that all resources are being used to identify the deceased.
