As we step into 2025, several of Pakistan’s most beloved stars have shared some powerful lessons they’ve learned over the past year. Here's what they had to say to inspire us for the year ahead.
Hania Aamir — Build a relationship with yourself
One of Pakistan’s most adored actors, Hania Aamir, posted a heartfelt video featuring highlights from 2024. She shared, “Loved deeply, and loved even more. Surprised myself, and kept finding new ways to amaze. Picked myself up and stood tall with me. Chose myself and didn’t look back. Found love in life, and found it within. Won, lost, and still won."
"2024 was the year I built my favourite relationship — with myself.”
We absolutely love this message of prioritizing self-love and nurturing a relationship with yourself.
Maria Unera — Gratitude and readiness for new beginnings
Aamir’s close friend, singer Maria Unera, also shared a touching video reflecting on the past year. In her detailed Instagram caption, Unera wrote, “Goodbye, 2024. As this year comes to an end, I can’t help but look back at the journey that brought me here. 2023 was a year that broke me in ways I never thought possible. It tested my strength, my faith, and my understanding of the world and myself. I was left feeling vulnerable, unsure, and at times, completely lost. But through the pain, through the struggle, I found pieces of myself I never knew existed.”
Unera went on to express that 2024 was a year of healing and self-discovery, helping her understand not only herself but also those around her. "Now, as 2024 draws to a close, I feel a deep sense of gratitude — for the lessons, for the moments of quiet strength, for the people who have walked this road with me. And with all that I’ve learned, I’m ready to step into 2025 with open arms and a hopeful heart.”
Nehaal Naseem — Acknowledge the efforts and support of those around you
Rising star Nehaal Naseem, known for her hit song ‘Sadqaay,’ wanted to make sure she took a moment to thank those who supported her along the way. She expressed immense gratitude for her family and how their unwavering support made her journey possible.
She shared, “I am so so grateful of my family for allowing me to have a smooth journey to where I am right now. Will forever and ever and ever be grateful to mama and baba. No matter how much I emphasise on it, it’ll never be enough on how my siblings have helped me every step of the way.”
Despite the challenges she faced, including balancing high school with a music career, Naseem is optimistic. "This is beyond what I dreamt lekin, picture abhi baaki hai mere doust [there is more to come, my friend].”
Durefishan Saleem — Be your true, authentic self
Durefishan Saleem took a different route and shared a handwritten note on Instagram, dated January 1, 2025. The note read, “You are not supposed to have it all figured out. The beauty of life is watching yourself grow into someone you never imagined you’d become. Here is to 2025 and every day of being your true authentic self in a fast-paced world where you constantly feel the need to be on top. Authenticity will take you to places people-pleasing won’t.”
Saleem reflected on the essence of "real success," emphasizing peace of mind, love, and forgiveness over fleeting measures of success like TRPs or online views. She urged others to “never let anyone dim your light” and stay graceful in the face of adversity.
Hira Tareen — When you feel like quitting is most likely when you’re on the brink of a breakthrough
Actor Hira Tareen shared a set of lessons she had learned from the past year. Here’s a glimpse:
- To feel something is entirely different than to be something.
- Instead of making to-do lists, make the s**t I got done today lists.
- When you feel like quitting is most likely when you’re on the brink of a breakthrough.
- The longer you entertain what’s not for you, the longer you postpone what is.
- Sometimes what you choose not to do is so much more valuable than what you choose to do.
And her other advice? "Pores are pretty" and "Don’t ask people for directions to places they’ve never been.” Tareen concluded with a nod to the power of authenticity in a world full of facades.
Kiran Malik — Trust yourself
Model and actress Kiran Malik shared a serene photo of herself by the sea, accompanied by an insightful message for 2025. She wrote, "Happiness doesn’t require a perfect life. It’s not about everything being flawless or the future being clear, but about noticing the beauty in what’s already here.”
Malik urged people to appreciate life’s small blessings, embrace the love that surrounds them, and trust themselves in the face of uncertainty. “Trust yourself, follow what feels right, and continue making brave, love-filled choices!”
Maya Ali — Cherish your gal pals
In a heartwarming Instagram post, Maya Ali shared a picture of herself surrounded by her close friends, saying, “2024, you were kind. 2025, let’s shine!” She gave a special shoutout to her friends for being there when she was down and motivating her to keep moving forward. “Jokes aside, tum log na hoti to main kya karti? [What would I do without you?].”
