Andrew Garfield has set the record straight on rumors suggesting he will reprise his role as Spider-Man alongside Tom Holland in Spider-Man 4. During a GQ interview, Garfield, who played Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man series and returned in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, firmly denied the claims while acknowledging fans' skepticism.
“I’m gonna disappoint you. Yeah, no. But I know no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on,” Garfield admitted, referencing the years he spent denying his return before surprising audiences in No Way Home.
While denying current involvement, Garfield hinted he could consider future big studio roles. “If it felt in line with my soul and was gonna be fun. Maybe I’m gonna have like five kids at some point, and I’m gonna need to start saving up for the school tuition or something,” he joked.
The actor also quashed speculation that he was set to play Jesus in a Martin Scorsese project, saying, “There was a rumour. It’s not true to my knowledge. You can’t just keep waiting for Scorsese to call, ’cause he makes a movie every three years and a lot of the time Leo DiCaprio is in it.”
Reflecting on the challenges of fame following his Spider-Man debut, Garfield shared how he struggled with public attention. “I was like, ‘I know I’m not ready for this level of scrutiny,’” he confessed.
Garfield’s recent projects include We Live In Time and the upcoming After the Hunt. Fans remain hopeful that Garfield’s time in the Marvel multiverse isn’t over just yet.
