Justin Baldoni has filed a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times, alleging that his It Ends With Us co-star Blake Lively attempted to bar him and his Wayfarer Studios team from the film’s August premiere. According to court documents obtained by Page Six, Lively initially refused Baldoni’s attendance, only agreeing after “significant pressure” and under conditions described as “humiliating.”
The lawsuit claims that Baldoni and his team were segregated from the main cast, excluded from the exclusive afterparty, and forced to organize their own event at their expense. Baldoni’s participation on the red carpet was reportedly cut short, while his family and friends were confined to a basement area until Lively left the venue. Baldoni accuses Lively of systematically sidelining him from the film’s marketing efforts, undermining his roles as director, producer, and star.
In addition to Lively, Baldoni’s lawsuit names her husband, Ryan Reynolds, alleging he pressured Baldoni’s agent to drop him as a client. Baldoni also claims Reynolds berated him in an “aggressive” confrontation over alleged comments about Lively, which Baldoni denies. Reynolds and Lively’s representatives have refuted these allegations, with Reynolds’ agency, WME, stating that there was no pressure to drop Baldoni.
Lively’s legal team dismissed Baldoni’s lawsuit as “false premises,” emphasizing that it does not alter her previously filed federal complaint against Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios. Her complaint alleges sexual harassment, retaliation, and emotional distress. Lively’s team encouraged the public to review her complaint for clarity, signaling their readiness to address the allegations in court.
This high-profile dispute has drawn significant attention to the strained relationship between the co-stars, raising questions about professional dynamics in the entertainment industry. Both sides now await court proceedings to address their claims.
