The ongoing renovations at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium are in their final stages as the venue prepares to host the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
According to Qazi Jawad Ahmed, Director of Infrastructure at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the construction work is progressing on schedule.
Currently, the finishing touches are being applied to the first floor of the office building, while work continues simultaneously on other pavilion floors.
Ahmed also clarified that the Far End Building, which is structurally intact, has not been demolished but is undergoing refurbishment to match the updated design of the rest of the stadium. This section is expected to be completed within the next two weeks.
The stadium's floodlight upgrades are also progressing, with one screen stand already installed and the second nearing completion. Additionally, the seating renovation is well underway, with imported white and green chairs, representing Pakistan's national colours, to be installed soon.
The upcoming 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will be hosted by Pakistan from February 19 to March 9, 2025. The tournament, which features eight teams and 15 matches, will take place across three Pakistani cities.
The final will be hosted in Lahore unless India qualifies, in which case the final will be played in Dubai.
Pakistan will face New Zealand in the opening match in Karachi on February 19, and a highly anticipated clash with India will take place on February 23 in Dubai.
