HYDERABAD:

Academic research on tribal conflicts in Sindh can identify and find solution to the issue which has claimed many lives, injured hundreds and devastated scores of families in the affected districts.

Moreover, peace committees, having representation of the warring parties, can help defuse tensions, said speakers at public hearings hosted by the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) at Larkana and Jaccobad on Tuesday.

Speakers expressed concerns over the detrimental consequences of conflicts on women, children and vulnerable communities.

Speaking at an event in Jacobabad SHRC Chairperson Iqbal Ahmed Detho referred to the closure of schools and health facilities in a large number of villages which are affected by the conflicts or by the activities of bandits.

He emphasised on the need of construction of women and juvenile police stations in Jacobabad where the infrastructure of the district jail also required upgrades.
