ATTOCK/ HYDERABAD:

At least 17 people lost their lives and 37 others were injured in two separate tragic accidents on Monday morning as a van and truck collided near Sindh's Moro city, while a bus overturned in Punjab's Attock district.

In Attock, a fast-moving bus travelling from Bahawalpur to Islamabad overturned near Fateh Jang on the CPEC route due to driver negligence. The accident left 10 fatalities and 22 injuries in its wake.

Upon receiving the distress call, Rescue 1122 and motorway police officers arrived quickly. The bodies and injured were transported to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Fateh Jang.

Inspector General (IG) Motorway Police Riffat Mukhtar expressed his profound sorrow over the incident and directed that the injured receive immediate medical attention. He also extended his condolences to the victims' families and prayed for the elevation of the deceased's ranks.

The IG instructed an immediate investigation into the accident, stressing that those responsible for negligence would face accountability.

In the other incident near Sindh's Moro, seven people, including four children, died and up to 15 were injured when a van collided with a truck near the town of Naushahro Feroze.

According to police, the families were returning from a wedding in Hyderabad when the accident occurred, caused by thick fog on the bypass road.

Six people died at the scene, while the seventh passed away on the way to hospital. The injured survivors revealed that 22 to 23 people were travelling in the van whose front and central parts were severely damaged when it collided with the truck.

The truck also overturned due to the impact.
