Pindi finalises security for New Year's Eve

More than 6,500 officers and personnel, 800 officers and wardens will be deployed to keep traffic flowing.

RAWALPINDI:

On the arrival of New Year's, Rawalpindi Police has made a security plan to maintain the law-and-order situation in the city by preventing aerial firing, fireworks and one-wheeling and thereby, ensuring the safety of citizens.

More than 6,500 officers and personnel, 800 officers and wardens will be deployed to keep traffic flowing.

Rawalpindi CPO, Khalid Hamdani said that 32 special pickets are being set up across the city to prevent one-wheeling. Additional pickets have been set up at the police station level to prevent aerial firing and fireworks.

He further said that aerial firing, fireworks and one-wheeling are prohibited, and that strict action will be taken against the violators.

A case will be registered against those involved in the aerial firing under terrorism provisions.

"Dolphin force, security squads and police station mobiles will be on continuous duty. Similarly, effective security arrangements have been made for the Christian community on the arrival of the New Year," he added.

He said that all steps are being taken to ensure foolproof security arrangements, protection of life and property of citizens and enforcement of law will be ensured in every case.
