Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez declined Bruno Mars' $5M wedding gig, sparking viral reactions online.

Celebrity wedding planner Marcy Blum recently recounted Jennifer Lopez's reaction to the price of hiring Bruno Mars for her wedding to Alex Rodriguez. 

During her appearance on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast on December 27, 2024, Blum shared: “We were working with J.Lo and A-Rod before they broke up, and they were going through a list of musicians, and she goes, ‘What about Bruno Mars?’"  

Marcy Blum explained that she informed Jennifer Lopez about her previous experience working with Bruno Mars, where the singer charged $5 million to perform for 45 minutes to an hour at a wedding event. 

Blum recalled Lopez’s reaction to the cost: "Don’t be ridiculous!"  

The wedding planner noted that she could speak about the incident as she hadn’t signed a non-disclosure agreement with Lopez or Rodriguez. Clips of Blum’s podcast appearance and her anecdote about Jennifer Lopez quickly went viral online, prompting widespread discussion on social media platform X.  

Reflecting on the couple’s eventual breakup in 2021 and the cost of Bruno Mars performing at their wedding, an X user joked: "He knew they weren’t going to last 🤭"  

Another user suggested: "Maybe that's a polite way of celebrities saying no to each other?"  

A different commenter sided with Bruno Mars, saying: "I am with Bruno on this one!! You’re not just paying for a performance; you’re paying for the experience!! Not to mention, JLo collects ceremonies like Grammys!!"  

Meanwhile, some internet users highlighted how Bruno Mars’ $5 million fee would have made JLo’s wedding unforgettable: "Honestly, if anyone could pull off a $5 million performance, it’s Bruno Mars! J-Lo’s wedding would’ve been unforgettable!"  

Others questioned why the quoted amount seemed like a big deal for someone of Lopez's financial stature: "so they both couldn’t afford bruno to perform? LMAOOO," an X user remarked.  

Another pointed out Lopez’s net worth in comparison to the cost: "Really crazy when she has a net worth $400 million. $5 million is light for somebody with that much money, especially for a performer like Bruno Mars," a netizen commented.
